Meet A Member: Jeanine Albiges

Jeanine Albiges Where do you work?
Appomattox Regional Library System

What is your current position?
Youth Services Assistant

When did you first know that you wanted to be a librarian?
It took me a long time even though I always liked libraries and books. I knew I wanted to work in libraries when I started volunteering at my kids' school library.

What was your first library job?
I worked in a little rural library as a clerk, on Tuesday nights and every other Saturday.

What is your favorite part of librarianship?
Story time.

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you on the job?
One day, I had a program about Mother Goose. I was dressed up as Mother Goose. In came one of the local journalists and seeing me, asked what was going on. I explained to him the program. He was in the library to interview somebody (can't remember who but it wasn't supposed to be me)! Next thing I know he asked if he could interview me about the program and I ended up on the first page of the newspaper with picture and all!

If you could have anything in the universe installed in your office for your personal use, what would it be?
A costume-making machine.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to know about you?
I didn't really talk or express myself until I was 18 years old. Knowing me now, they would have a hard time believing this!
