WHO WE ARE:
Chesterfield County Public Library (CCPL) is seeking a Library Program Coordinator to join its team of innovative, forward-thinking professionals in our Community Services department.

Here’s what you will need:
Master’s degree, preferably in library science with one year of professional program development experience and one year in a library setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
  
Duties will include:
• Coordinate and execute programming events.
• Consult with branch staff to ensure quarterly programs meet strategic plan criteria.
• Evaluate communities and audiences to determine programming needs and interests.
• Collaborate with community and organization partners on projects.
• Demonstrate strong project management skills.
• Work closely with marketing and publicity team to develop promotional goals and timelines.
• Develop and oversee a program feedback collection and evaluation method.
• Manage online event calendar system.
• Lead monthly Program Council meetings to include training and workshops related to programming and marketing.
• Review and coordinate event set-up and logistics for some programs.
• Serve on county's Black History Month Committee and develop programs to support Black History Month.
• Participate on Summer Learning Committee.
• Contribute to the program guide, library blog and program input into the library’s system’s online events calendar.
• Supervise Program Assistant responsible for helping with program coordination.
• Perform other work as required.
• Position requires the ability to drive a personal/county-owned vehicle.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is normally performed in library office, library locations and other professional settings; extensive use of computers and devices required. Light to medium, occasionally heavy, physical requirements which may include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling crouching, keyboarding, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal and reading; not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. May need to work evenings and weekends and inside and outside events during periods of hot and cold weather; lift and/or set up equipment/objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  
The Library Program Coordinator will have a working knowledge of program planning and implementation to include research, development and evaluation methods aligning with the library's strategic plans.
 
The Coordinator will engage community partners, customers, and staff in the promotion of library programs; lead Program Council meetings and coordinate training and development opportunities related to programming and marketing of programs. The coordinator will train library staff on program development and be expected to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines. Must be able to work in a team environment; work professionally with high profile presenters and County Administration; and independently plan, organize, and coordinate system-wide programs.
