DATE ENTERED: May 7, 2024 Public Services Librarian, Youth Ashland Branch Library DESCRIPTION: The Public Services Librarian provides service to library users in an assigned customer service area. This position supervises or delegates supervision of all employees and volunteers assigned to the area. The Librarian is an integral part of the branch library management team and the position is supervised by the Branch Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include developing and delivering programs, fostering community partnerships, providing staff training, customer workshops, and promoting library resources within the branch and through outreach. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited library school. Relevant previous experience preferred. Certification as a professional librarian by the Library of Virginia is required within 6 months of employment. Must have a valid Virginia driver's license or reliable transportation. Must work evening and weekend hours on a regular basis. SALARY: Starting rate for this full-time, 40 hour per week position is $48,034.39 per year with benefits.
