Library Technologist & Makerspace Manager

The McGraw-Page Library at Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Library Technologist & Makerspace Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the operations of the library's Makerspace.
  • Maintain the makerspace equipment and the library computers and loaner laptops, collaborating with campus ITS as needed.
  • Assist the Circulation & Resource Sharing Manager in managing the Information Desk; support library users with library circulation, printing, and general inquiries.
    • Locate and create instructional materials and provide training to faculty and students on Library tools and systems.
    • Maintain the Library's website in consultation with other library staff.
    • Stay abreast of the development of new technological advances relating to the position by consulting reliable resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university, or an Associate’s degree from an accredited community or junior college and two years graphic design or media production experience.
  • Experience with any of these: 3D modeling and printing, virtual reality, electronics/coding, sewing/textiles, crafting, or photography.
  • Experience with any of these: film/audio production and the use of media equipment, graphic design, digital imaging, or video editing software.
  • Experience with web design, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing technological environment; aptitude for learning and teaching new hardware and software.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to different types of stakeholders with different knowledge backgrounds; ability to adjust to frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial, team-based environment and maintain positive working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with a makerspace.
  • Experience working with Springshare products (e.g., LibGuides, CMS, LibCal).
  • Teaching experience or knowledge of instructional design best practices.
