LWC June Panel: Step-by-Step: Turning Your Presentation into a Publication

Conference presentations are an excellent way to share your ideas and experiences with peers, but they can also be the starting point for something more. In this panel, librarians will share how they turned presentations into publications ranging from conference proceedings to journal articles and book chapters. Panelists will discuss their motivations, strategies, and lessons learned, offering practical insights for anyone interested in extending the life and impact of their work. We'll be joined by:

  • Melissa Chomintra, Purdue University

  • Stephanie Johnson, National University

  • Mark Lenker, University of Nevada, Las Vegas

  • Dr. Michele A. L. Villagran, San Jose State University

When: Wednesday, June 3, at 2pm-3pm Eastern

Register here and we'll send the Zoom link a few days before the event.

In July: Join us for National Article Writing Month (NaArWriMo)! If July is generally a quieter time where you are or you don't want to lose progress on writing projects you're working on, join us via Zoom each Wednesday afternoon in July to build momentum or keep it going!

In September, Monthly Writing Time returns for the academic year.

  • Time: Every third Friday of the month from 2pm-4pm Eastern (except for December, when it's the second Friday)

  • Purpose: Join us to spend time making progress on your writing projects or presentations - no matter what stage they're at in the process!

Authors (including authors-to-be!): If you're feeling unsure about your writing or you'd like to have another set of eyes look at your work before you push the submit button on that journal portal, we'll match you with a reviewer who can provide some preliminary supportive feedback. Learn more on our Need a Review? page.

Want to be a Reviewer? Finally, if you have the time and space in your schedule and you'd like to volunteer as a reviewer for us, visit our Be a Reviewer page

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly, or drop us a line at the Library Writing Cooperative at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!
