The Georgia Library Association Carterette Series Webinars presents... Have You Zine This?: Georgia State University Library's Zine Initiative Wednesday, June 3, 2026 Description: Join an archivist and two librarians from Georgia State University for an engaging conversation on the power of zines as tools for exploring subculture, expressing student identity, and fostering community. This session will trace the evolution of GSU Library's zine initiative-from its origins to its current impact-and share our vision for its future. Participants will gain insight into our zine workshops, which center student voice, identity, and belonging, as well as our integration of zines and comics into course-based instruction. We will highlight key successes, reflect on challenges, and offer practical guidance for those interested in developing similar initiatives within their own institutions or communities. About the Presenters: Charlene Martoni is the Librarian for the Behavioral Sciences and Open Knowledge at Georgia State University. She uses zines as a vehicle for open pedagogy projects where students showcase their knowledge construction, and she works with her colleagues to host zine workshops focused on cultivating and capturing student identity and belonging at GSU. Anna Wodny (she/her) is the University Archivist at Georgia State University. Her work prioritizes involving students in archival research and donation processes. As part of this mission, she uses zines to promote archival resources to the campus community and incorporates zine history into course instruction. ------------------------------------------------------- To register for the online event 1.
