Our keynote presentation, "Who is the Library For?" is Thursday March 12 at 2pm Eastern Time, featuring W&L alumnus and librarian Corey Harmon. Corey Harmon '05 is a Library Associate Professor and Head of Access Services at East Carolina University's Laupus Health Sciences Library. His connection to the Washington and Lee University Library spans more than twenty years, beginning as a four‑year student employee and later as a summer intern during library school. Corey earned his MSLS from UNC–Chapel Hill, where his master's thesis extended Betty Ruth Kondayan's history of the W&L library, documenting its evolution from the late 1930s through the early 2000s. A scholar of access services and library history with an active publication record, Corey also serves on the Friends of the Library Board for W&L. In his keynote, "Who Is the Library For?," he traces the 250‑year evolution of W&L's library within the wider development of academic libraries, examining how the question of who the library serves has continually transformed. We love birthday congratulations! We would love to hear from you and/or your library on social media, by email, or with an actual birthday card.
