WHO WE ARE: Chesterfield Public Library is a non-traditional, forward-thinking library system. The library is currently hiring for a full-time Automation Analyst to work on the Technology Management team.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED: • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business administration or a related field; five years of experience in the implementation and support of business information systems to include two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Ability to document automation processes and procedures. • Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. HERE'S WHAT YOU DO: • Develops, conducts, and evaluates training in the use of computer systems and software for department staff. Plan and direct the work of technical and non-technical staff for the delivery of technology management services throughout the library system. Serve as liaison/project manager to department and branches for library best practices, vendor information & library initiatives. • Supervise, train, and evaluate technical and non-technical staff responsible for the daily operations; perform work of considerable difficulty in advanced technical and analytical duties. • Maintain and support of all proprietary library software programs, library network support, upgrade installations, troubleshooting, and emergency issues. • Consult with users to diagnose, investigate, and resolve computer software and hardware issues, particularly as these issues relate to the library database. Direct the maintenance of library hardware and software utilizing the department's technical staff. Provide library network support including backups, upgrade installations, troubleshooting, and emergency issues. • Manage the Help Desk intake and report process. Oversee requests for computer assistance and troubleshooting. • Assist with the development and delivery of technology training as needed/requested. Develop and conduct training in the use of computer systems and software for library staff. Participate in the research and evaluation of new and enhanced software and hardware products. • Communicate/coordinate with vendors regarding technology software, equipment, and technical support for the library. • Create, maintain, and analyze reports as needed. • Perform daily, monthly, and annual reports associated with library database and other library information systems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in library office, library locations and other professional settings; extensive use of computers and devices required. Light to medium, occasionally heavy, physical requirements which may include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, keyboarding, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal and reading; not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
