General Description of Position
The Head of Technical and Technology Services provides leadership, development, coordination, and direction in the following areas: cataloging, classification, material processing in all formats, and authority file maintenance. This position also serves as the systems and database administrator for Alma and Primo. The librarian plans and develops policies, workflows, and special projects relating to acquisitions, cataloging/metadata and develops and implements strategies for the effective acquisition and discovery of library resources in all formats. The librarian monitors expenditures for library resources and trends related to resource acquisition, description, discovery, and access. The librarian supervises the Technical Services Specialist. The librarian identifies, formulates, and assesses goals, priorities, policies, and procedures for these areas of responsibility and works closely and collaboratively with all library staff to ensure efficient workflow and enhanced user experience.
Required KSAs / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform their work
Demonstrated knowledge of the Alma library information system and the Primo discovery system.

Demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, MARC21, RDA, and LC Subject Headings and Classification

Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and methods of library technology applications, combined with a strong service orientation.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in acquisitions, cataloging and metadata standards, issues, trends and best practices.

Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of staff within the Library, the University and in collaborative initiatives with other institutions.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred KSA's / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform the work
Working knowledge of metadata standards such as MARC, EAD, and Dublin Core.

Working knowledge of relational databases using MS Access and/or SQL server

Experience working with state and federal government documents, including the Federal Document Library Program (FDLP).

Familiarity with library procurement processes, including licensing, contracts, and RFP development.
Required Education
MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education
Required Experience
Experience using bibliographic utilities and integrated library systems.
Preferred Education  
Preferred Experience
At least 3 years of managerial experience in an academic, research, or public library.

Experience working with Alma and Primo.

Experience working in library acquisitions and/or systems.
