The Engineering and Physical Sciences Liaison Librarian develops and delivers library and research support to faculty, students, administrators, staff, and others in the subject areas of engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, mathematics, and the physical sciences (physics, chemistry, and biochemistry), including research assistance, instruction, and collection development activities. The Liaison Librarian serves as the primary contact person between the Libraries and departments, programs, and research centers in the College of Engineering and the physical sciences departments in the College of Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. American Library Association accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or Master’s degree in Library and Information science, or the international equivalents.
2. Basic knowledge of the information and research needs of assigned disciplines and an understanding of current trends and issues in scholarly publishing and communication
3. Considerable demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
4. Considerable demonstrated analytical skills including independent problem solving and critical thinking
5. Considerable demonstrated ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others to address complex questions and devise solutions
6. Considerable demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding and rapidly changing service-oriented environment
7. Basic ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with teaching faculty in assigned disciplines
8. Basic ability to facilitate access to appropriate information resources by building local collections for the College of Engineering and physical sciences departments in the College of Sciences
9. Considerable experience using technologies commonly used in library and office operations
10. Basic library experience supporting engineering, or the sciences.
11. Basic prior work experience collaboratively building services and developing solutions with students and teaching faculty in assigned disciplines
12. Basic experience teaching, training, or providing educational presentations

Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduate or undergraduate coursework or degree in engineering, the physical sciences, engineering librarianship, or related disciplines
• Considerable demonstrated understanding of current issues in academic communication and publishing.
• Considerable experience teaching in a library environment, including planning and evaluating instruction to gauge effectiveness
• Basic prior work experience identifying and meeting research needs of library users
• Some prior work experience in engineering, the physical sciences, or engineering librarianship within higher education.
