POSITION: Naro Video Collection Curator (00948A) – Full-time position

Plans, implements, and manages all activities related to collection development, access/use, outreach, and programming for the Naro Video Collection. Works closely with library personnel to establish and maintain the accessibility and use of collection materials for Old Dominion University faculty, staff, students, and the greater Hampton Roads community.

Required Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of film history, genres, technical presentation standards, and media formats.  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.  Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service.  Excellent ability to communicate and work with a diverse community of faculty, students, venue management, and the general public. Demonstrated interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, planning and project management skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.  Demonstrated ability to follow and interpret complex policies and procedures in the execution of detail oriented work.  Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making within general guidelines. Considerable experience with film programming (screenings, exhibits, speakers, etc.) and event planning and management for diverse audiences.  Considerable experience working with media materials and serving users of media materials.  Some experience using social media to promote film collections and events.

Preferred Qualifications

Some supervisory experience.  Considerable experience in the selection and purchase of media materials.  Some experience with budget management.  Considerable experience working with film distributors and film programming venues.  Considerable knowledge of moving image and audio preservation needs and challenges.  Some experience creating graphics and digital video content. Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary degree or coursework in film studies or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
