GENERAL SUMMARY:  
Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Children’s Services Department Manager. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating library services for children and their families region-wide. This position also provides public service in the children's department including reference, reader's advisory, computer assistance, programming, and supervision and does related work as required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
•    Develops, manages, and maintains the regional children's collection. Annual materials budget about $130,000;
•    Responsible for outreach to and collaboration with schools, preschools, childcare centers, State Library, and organizations serving the area's children;
•    Promotes library services for children to the community;
•    Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff;
•    Involved in leadership and committees at a system-wide level;
•    Works with the Young Adult Managers and Adult Services Managers to coordinate the summer reading program;
•    Schedules summer and special event performers region-wide;
•    Assists with development of regional library policies and procedures;
•    Does related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  
•    Requires a M.L.S. Degree (Master of Library Sciences) with eligibility for Virginia certification.
•    Requires at least 3 years of professional experience working with children's services in a library setting.
•    Requires at least 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience.
•    Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
