Electronic Resources Associate Randolph-Macon College invites applications for the Electronic Resources Associate. This position manages the McGraw-Page Library’s electronic resources to ensure access from both on- and off-campus. The position will be responsible for compiling usage statistics and running reports to support collection development and other library decision-making tasks. In collaboration with other library staff, the position will also perform a variety of routine digital initiative duties to increase access to specialized collections materials for library patrons and other library departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage the Library’s electronic resources, including but not limited to:
- Oversee e-resource management to ensure proper indexing and retrieval for databases, serials, e-books, and other resources; manage EZproxy access.
- Perform routine maintenance as needed and troubleshoot database-related problems.
- Administer system configuration and customization of the library discovery system according to user needs and management specifications.
- Manage research database statistics, digital serials and publications finder, and administration of research databases.
2. Support digital initiatives for Special Collections & Archives:
- Assist with all daily functions related to the development and maintenance of the digital repository; perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of digital repository content; maintain inventory of all digital assets.
- Make resources accessible and discoverable through digitization and born-digital records management, as well as assist with digital policy development and implementation.
- Develop and perform specialized procedures and workflows for digitization of library materials and digital archives handling, including management, metadata creation, storage, preservation, and exhibition.
- Assist with the promotion and use of digital assets by the College community and public.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise digital initiatives student employees.
- As part of the newly formed digital initiatives team, creatively contribute to long-term planning for digital initiatives in the library.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with the management of electronic resources such as databases.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing technological environment; aptitude for discovering, learning and troubleshooting software and hardware.
- A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university, or an Associate’s degree from an accredited community or junior college and two years database management or digital initiatives experience.
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to different types of stakeholders with different knowledge backgrounds; ability to adjust to frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial, team-based environment and maintain positive working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of technical processing, digitization standards, bibliographic utilities, and local library systems
- Experience with OCLC WorldShare, EZproxy, e-serials, e-books
- Working knowledge of tools such as MS Office, Hyku, Omeka, ArchivesSpace, Wordpress, Springshare, Adobe Acrobat
- An aptitude for online design and/or user experience
