DESCRIPTION: This award-winning regional library system is seeking a
professional librarian with strong leadership skills for a position for collection
access, cataloging and providing authority control for both physical and
digital collections.

This position will be at our Library Administration Center which is located in
historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. Midway between Washington, DC, and
Richmond, VA. Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) serves over
300,000 residents in four jurisdictions through ten branches, two satellite
locations, an IdeaSpace and a Library Administration Center. The library
enjoys strong community support, with annual circulation over four million,
an annual budget of more than twelve million dollars, and a dedicated and
forward-looking staff of over 200. Fredericksburg and the surrounding area
are home to an active arts community, the University of Mary Washington,
plentiful outdoor recreation opportunities, and a rich history.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (This comes from

Collection Services staff to provide access to physical and digital collections
that meet the educational and recreational needs for customers of all ages in
a variety of formats.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:(This comes from the SPECIAL
TRAINING/KNOWLEDGE on the job description)

  • Knowledge of cataloging, and current trends, and experience working
  • with Horizon, MARC, RDA, AACR2r, OCLC and LC cataloging and other
  • appropriate cataloging and metadata standards in a public library
  • setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Google Apps, especially Google Sheets, computer
  • hardware and peripherals required.
  • Experience managing large projects and initiatives preferred. Managing
  • multiple priorities and meeting ongoing deadlines required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain cooperative and
  • productive relationships with community groups, staff, and the general
  • public required.

QUALIFICATIONS: (This comes from the GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS on
the job description) A MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited college or
university is required; two years of cataloging experience preferred. Strong
customer-service orientation. Good communication skills, flexible work
habits, and ability to relate to fellow staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (This comes from the PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS on the job description) Requires work that involves walking
or standing, bending and stooping; and involves exerting up to 30 pounds of
force on a regular and recurring basis to lift and/or move library materials.
Ability to sit or stand at a desk and/or computer for extended hours, read
computer screens and use computer keyboards.

SALARY: Hiring starts at $49,859 with excellent benefits, including
affordable health insurance premiums and VRS retirement for a total
compensation package worth approximately $72,500 per year. (Use the
