The Department of STEM Education & Professional Studies seeks applicants for a 12-month lecturer faculty position as a Lecturer of Library & Information Studies to start June 10, 2022. The primary responsibilities for this position are:

  • To develop and teach undergraduate and graduate distance learning courses in library and information studies including the management of multiple sections of a general education information literacy course.
  • To manage the advising of students and participate in the administration and recruitment initiatives of the Master of Library and Information Studies program.
  • To develop and maintain relationships with employers in libraries, archives, and other related institutions to assist with recruitment, program growth, and placements.
  • To participate in the professional and intellectual community through service in the program, department, and college.

Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Candidates should demonstrate evidence of:

  • teaching ability and fluency in information literacies and technology.
  • breadth of knowledge of the library profession
  • evidence of a commitment to student success
  • excellence in written and oral communication and,
  • ability to maintain organized records and student files.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or Training: The minimum requirement for this position is a Master of Library Science or equivalent degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association.   

Preferred qualifications:  

  • Experience advising, mentoring, or otherwise working to promote student success
  • Experience in academic, public, or special libraries or other information centers
