INTRODUCTION:    
Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) is looking for an Information Services Manager at Chinn Park Regional Library. The selected candidate will be a key member of the branch management team with supervisory and building management responsibilities. As the team leader for Adult Information Services at the branch, they will also develop and execute a vision for providing innovative programming and outreach for their team. Perfect opportunity for a creative, forward-thinking team player who wants to share their customer service skills with the Prince William County community. This position requires excellent communication skills, time management and organizational skills, and an ability to expand outreach in the community.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:          

  • Supervises adult services staff in planning and developing creative and engaging programming.
  • Plans and implements goals for their department in support of the Library strategic plan.
  • Actively participates on the branch’s management team including overseeing the building when needed.
  • Assists patrons with reader’s advisory techniques, including utilizing e-resources and working with digital devices.
  • Assists patrons with circulation services will also be required.
  • Actively engages in the personnel processes including, hiring, scheduling, preparing and conducting performance evaluations and the discipline process.

The preferred candidate will have experience in: public libraries, information services, supervising others, managing operations within a facility and assisting patrons at the service desk; as well as excellent communication, customer service skills and an ability to meet deadlines and have excellent time management skills. This position requires knowledge of event management platforms.   

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
This is a full time, exempt position located at the Chinn Park Regional Library. The schedule includes days, one evening a week and rotating weekends. Flexibility is paramount. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the library.   

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A DMV check is required for driving during business hours.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Library Science (MLIS)  plus 5 years of library related experience to include experience in Library management and 2 years of supervisory experience.
