POSITION: Circulation Supervisor

Bridgewater College is seeking a full-time Circulation Supervisor. This non-exempt position oversees and manages delivery of circulation services in the Forrer Learning Commons. This position reports to the Director of the Forrer Learning Commons. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The position will start July 1, 2021.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To fulfill job responsibilities, the Circulation Supervisor will manage circulation and all related processes (to include):
  • Maintain the circulation module in the Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Manage sorting, shelving, and shifting of library books and publications to maintain correct shelf order of items.
  • Manage reserve materials.
  • Assist users with utilization of library & media equipment including copiers, computers, printers, LCD panels, digital equipment, etc.

  • Maintain records and reports with monthly and yearly circulation statistics.
  • Manage billing processes between WMS and the College’s financial account database.
  • Communicate circulation policies and issues to staff, campus community, or reciprocal libraries as necessary.
  • Assist Research Support Librarian with mailing circulation items to students and faculty and with interlibrary loan lending to other institutions as necessary.
  • Hire, supervise, schedule, and train students assigned to circulation services.
  • Provides reference and research support virtually and in person including evening and weekend hours as necessary.
  • Uses strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive, collaborative attitude with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with all faculty and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Competency with integrated library system, networks, and library operations.     
  • Familiarity with Springshare’s LibStaffer service point scheduling tool.      
  • Familiarity with OCLC’s Worldshare Management System (WMS).
  • Skills in supervising subordinate staff, especially 18-21 year old adults.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring effective recordkeeping processes, policies, procedures, and work flow.
  • Computer technology for communication, data gathering, and reporting.               
  • Familiarity with record confidentiality and copyright law.      

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required.

EXPERIENCE: Prefer: 2 years library experience
