The mission of the Prince William Public Library system is to bring people, information and ideas together to enrich the lives and community in a welcoming and inclusive environment. To deliver on this promise, we provide access to physical and digital resources throughout Prince William County and the City of Manassas.

The Prince William County Public library has over 1.4 million visitors to branches every year, and logs over 1 million website users. In addition, the system provides more than 3.6 million materials borrowed every year to the residents of the Prince William area. The Prince William Public Library System is seeking dynamic and enthusiastic Branch Managers to provide leadership and direction to teams of public service professionals at the Chinn Park Regional Library and new City of Manassas branch location.

The Branch Manager position is ideal for a leader with strong management skills who is ready to impact the third year of our current strategic plan. The Branch Manager must have a passion for creating an environment of teamwork that embraces change and excellent customer service. He/she must possess effective management skills and experience and be knowledgeable about the administrative and programmatic operations of public libraries in a busy, high profile, suburban setting. The Branch Manager will have the ability to impact the future of library services and affect culture and organizational change, particularly as we begin reopening library branches in the wake of the worldwide pandemic. Responsibilities include:
• Supervising management staff, including creating and writing annual evaluations, facilitating the staff discipline process and managing employees to improve/maximize performance.
• Providing oversite of branch budget, including managing the aspects of the Friends of the Library and subfund budgets; completing all applicable financial paperwork.
• Facility management
• Engaging in communication with our stakeholders and providing excellent internal and external customer service.

Positions Available:
Chinn Park Regional Library – The Chinn Park Library is the busiest branch in the system. The Chinn Park Regional Library houses our Management and Government Information Center (MAGIC) and a successful Friends of the Library group that supports robust branch programming.

Manassas Library – Currently hiring a branch manager for the Manassas Library which has an anticipated opening date of November 1, 2020. The branch manager will work with the Deputy Director and Library Director on the opening details of the branch. Recruitment has already begun for a New Friends group.

PREFERENCES: The successful candidate will possess the ability to oversee the daily operations of all facets of public services in the branch, which includes programming, technology assistance and access while navigating the new reality of required social distancing and new service models. Preferred experience includes a minimum of:
2 years demonstrated successful management of a similarly sized library branch or department and in managing Supervisors
2 years managing para-professional and professional staff
2 years serving on system wide workgroups, focus groups and leadership teams
2 years of experience with ILS, meeting room/Event software, reading program software
1 year implementing strategic plan objectives
2 years overseeing budget, payroll, managing grant, non-profit funding
2 years customer service experience
2 years of facility management

SCHEDULE: Prince William County Public Library is a seven day per week operation. This is a full-time exempt position. Hours will vary.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in library or information science and 6 years of related experience.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $79,009 - $113,896
