POSITION: Acquisition, Cataloging, and Technical Services Specialist (part-time)

DESCRIPTION: Performs and/or directs the acquisition, cataloging, and processing of library materials in a manner that supports the overall goals of the Middlesex Library. Work involves placing orders for library materials, receiving and checking shipments from distributors, cataloging materials, and making materials shelf-ready. Coordinates and maintains interlibrary loan process. Provides input for collection management at both branch libraries. Provides assistance at the front desk performing circulation, reference, and computer help duties as needed. Reports to the Executive Director.

REQUIREMENTS: A degree from an accredited college or university and/or any equivalent combination of education and/or training that provides the required knowledge of current bibliographic standards. Requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching; talking and hearing clearly, including use of telephone; lifting and carrying 20 pounds or less; pushing and pulling book trucks on wheels that weigh 20-50 pounds; dexterity for word processing, writing, filing, and shelving; vision to see all levels of shelving and to see while using computer; mobility to travel to meetings outside the Library. Position may require working evening and/or weekend hours.

SALARY: Approximately 15 hours weekly. Range: $16.00 – $17.00/hr depending on experience.
