Access Services Librarian

Tidewater Community College invites applications to fill an Access Services Librarian position on the Virginia Beach Campus.
The largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in Hampton Roads, TCC serves some 35,000 students annually. With four campuses and regional centers for the visual arts, performing arts, health professions, advanced technology, and automotive technology, TCC is a comprehensive institution offering more than 150 programs, including a full complement of college transfer and career and technical education, workforce training and development services, and general community enrichment and outreach.

The Access Services Librarian is responsible for the administrative, supervisory, technical, and direct service work overseeing Access Services functions at the Joint-Use Library (JUL), including Circulation, Interlibrary Loan (ILL), and Reserves, and providing managerial support for access services functions at all TCC Libraries. The Access Services Librarian reports to the Director of the Joint-Use Library. A complete position description listing functional responsibilities is available at

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience managing circulation services in a library. Experience providing excellent customer service. Experience with effectively using computers and computer software including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, internet tools, and electronic mail. Experience with an integrated library system or library services platform. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work with diverse populations to include students, faculty, administrators, and patrons. Ability to devise research strategies and to prepare subject guides, resource lists, handbooks, and other print and online materials to support the information needs of faculty and students. Ability to assist other staff in the day-to-day operation and management of a library. Ability to employ systematic planning and effective time management techniques. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in circulation, interlibrary loan, traditional and electronic reserves, and document delivery. Master's degree from an ALA-accredited graduate program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience using and instructing patrons on library information resources including electronic databases, print, and media. Experience conducting the reference interview process.

SALARY: Expected salary range of $56,810 to $68,500. Actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience with consideration for internal alignment factors. The college offers an excellent benefits package.
