POSITION: Youth Services Librarian (two positions available)

DESCRIPTION: Help us chart the course for youth and family services at Pamunkey Regional Library. PRL is a suburban/rural four-county regional public library system with ten branches in Central Virginia. If you’re an enthusiastic Librarian with fresh ideas for incorporating new information technologies into youth services, programs and storytimes we’d like to talk with you about joining our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include developing and delivering programs, events and community partnerships. Developing, coordinating and delivering staff training and patron workshops. Promoting library resources through outreach. Performs other duties as required. Flexibility to work evenings and Saturdays is required of this full time position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of emerging trends in youth services and resources. Ability to: develop and present engaging and innovative programs; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; work independently and in a team environment. Possession of a strong work ethic and a willingness to embrace change are necessary.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library school.  Recent or prospective graduates, and those with innovative ideas about the intersection between libraries, children and their families, are encouraged to apply. Excellent presentation or performance skills are desirable. Certification as a professional librarian by the Library of Virginia is required within 6 months of employment. Must have a valid Virginia driver's license with an acceptable driving record or reliable transportation.

SALARY: Starting rate for this full-time, 40 hour per week position is $18.38 per hour with competitive benefits, including the Library’s exceptional commitment to encouraging and funding professional development.
