Temporary Full-Time Outreach, Instruction, and Reference Librarian

The Shippensburg University Library Department is seeking candidates for a one-year adjunct position of Outreach, Instruction, and Research Librarian.

This position will teach library and information literacy sessions in collaboration with faculty across the curriculum, provide students with personal research guidance and instruction, participate in evening and weekend rotation, and coordinate library outreach and advocacy events, exhibits, and efforts. Based on her/his skill set and the needs of the library, the incumbent will serve on library committees and task-forces and will be assigned additional library responsibilities. Teaching assignments may include nights and/or weekends. In addition, faculty members are expected to perform other duties as assigned in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Candidates must hold a master’s degree in library science from an A.L.A. accredited program and have excellent customer service orientation and skills, knowledge and expertise with relevant reference databases and resources, and a high level of comfort and proficiency with technology. As part of a successful on-campus interview process, selected candidates will be expected to provide a demonstration of teaching effectiveness and evidence of understanding diverse populations.
