Librarian II – Law Library #29395

The City of Virginia Beach Library Department – Law Library is seeking a Librarian II that will provide the most complex and in-depth research and information service to library customers through reference interviews and advanced research strategies and techniques using available resources. Specializes in providing support, training, and educational opportunities that meet the needs of internal and external customers; promotes the library’s collection and services through bibliographic instruction, outreach, programs and other activities.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from and American Library Association accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of professional/administrative library work which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Preferences:
One or more years of experience in a using effective supervisory or lead worker capacity techniques
Experience using legal research tools and techniques
Experience using electronic legal resources, e.g. Westlaw
Demonstrates knowledge of how to use technology and digital resources to provide customer service
Demonstrates an understanding of the ethical constraints in providing customer assistance on legal issues
Knowledge of current law library issues, best practices and trends
Experience in Leading or participates on teams to develop library system policies and procedures
Minimum 1 year experience with preparing written communication, including reports, correspondence, evaluations

Salary Range:   $50,273.60 - $77,188.80
