DESCRIPTION: This award-winning regional library system is seeking an experienced Access Services Librarian at our Library Administration Center. The Library Administration Center is located in Spotsylvania County, Virginia and is within commuting distance to nearby Marine Corps Base Quantico.  Located midway between Washington, DC, and Richmond, VA, Central Rappahannock Regional Library serves over 300,000 residents in four jurisdictions through ten branches, two satellite locations and a Library Administration Center. The library enjoys strong community support, with annual circulation over four million, an annual budget of more than twelve million dollars, and a dedicated and forward-looking staff of over 300. Fredericksburg and the surrounding area are home to an active arts community, the University of Mary Washington, plentiful outdoor recreation opportunities, and a rich history.

  • Knowledge of Google Apps, Microsoft Office, computer hardware and peripherals, and integrated library systems required.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and instruct others on National Library Service and other accessibility software and hardware required.
  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting ongoing deadlines required.
  • Ability to lead staff and volunteers in managing daily operations and new initiatives required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  An MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited college or university is required. Strong organizational and communication skills, flexible work habits, and the ability to relate to customers of all ages, library staff, and community partners.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires work that involves walking or standing, bending and stooping; and involves exerting up to 30 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis to lift and/or move library materials.
Ability to sit or stand at a desk and/or computer for extended hours, read computer screens and use computer keyboards. Requires a valid VA driver’s license and the ability to drive.

SALARY:  Hiring starts at $47,924 with excellent benefits, including affordable health insurance premiums and VRS retirement for a total compensation package worth approximately $68,687 per year.
