GENERAL SUMMARY: The starting hiring amount is $47,751 to $52,520 for this position.
Provides considerable public library work experience including children's services, reader's advisory and reference for patrons of all ages. The Branch Manager is responsible for all branch library operations.

The Scottsville Branch hours of operation are:
Monday - 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Tuesday - 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Wednesday - 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Thursday - 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Friday - Saturday - 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Sunday - Closed

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
In addition to the responsibilities listed in the general summary, the Branch Manager is responsible for all branch library operations including providing press releases on library activities; overseeing circulation and fines & fees; schedules, trains & evaluates staff and oversees their leave; monitors maintenance and repairs to building, grounds & equipment; meets with community groups, organizations & elected officials; assists with development of regional library policies & procedures.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
-M.L.S. degree with certification in Virginia or coursework allowing for the completion of said degree within the first two years of employment is required
-Minimum of three years library work experience including reader's advisory, reference and/or children's services.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Preference will be given to applicants with supervisory experience, having a strong public service orientation with knowledge of general reference sources as well as electronic information resources.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS & WORK CONTACTS:
Ability to push book trucks, carts, and bins weighing up to 30 pounds; ability to lift 30 pounds; ability to be able to stand up to four hours at a stretch.
Contacts would include Library Director, other managers and library staff, suppliers, contractors, maintenance personnel, city staff and the public.
Individuals required to register with Selective Service must show proof of registration as a condition of employment (pursuant to Section 2.2-2804, Code of Virginia.) The City requires pre-employment drug testing for all positions. Applicants selected for positions that require driving will be asked to provide a certified copy of their DMV driving record and must meet The City�s driving eligibility requirements.
