Tidewater Community College invites applications to fill a Librarian position on the Virginia Beach Campus.

The largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in Hampton Roads, TCC serves some 35,000 students annually. With four campuses and regional centers for the visual arts, performing arts, health professions, advanced technology, and automotive technology, TCC is a comprehensive institution offering more than 150 programs, including a full complement of college transfer and career and technical education, workforce training and development services, and general community enrichment and outreach.

The Librarian is responsible for providing instruction and assistance to faculty, staff, students and the community in the use of library information resources, including open educational resources, electronic databases, internet tools, printed materials, and media. The Librarian reports to the Coordinator of Library Services. A complete position description listing functional responsibilities is available at

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience using and instructing patrons on use of academic library research methods. Experience using and instructing patrons on use of library information resources including electronic databases, print, and media. Experience conducting the reference interview process. Experience providing excellent customer service. Experience with effectively using computers and computer software including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, internet tools, and electronic mail. Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and trends relevant to the provision of library services. Knowledge of issues in open education, open textbooks, open access, copyright, licensing and intellectual property. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and conduct library instruction classes and to assist patrons with information searches using electronic and print resources. Ability to work with diverse populations to include students, faculty, administrators, and patrons. Ability to devise research strategies and to prepare subject guides, resource lists, handbooks, and other print and online materials to support the information needs of faculty and students. Ability to assist other staff in the day-to-day operation and management of a library. Ability to employ systematic planning and effective time management techniques. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Master's degree from an ALA accredited library school. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience providing reference assistance with electronic and print resources in an academic library. Teaching skills and experience in information literacy instruction.

SALARY: Expected salary range of $56,810 to $84,433. Actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience with consideration for internal alignment factors. The college offers an excellent benefits package.
