William & Mary Libraries is seeking a creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic Instruction and Research Librarian.  Reporting to the Head of Research, the librarian will build and maintain close relationships with faculty and students in order to meet their teaching, learning, research, and publication needs.  .  The librarian will engage students in the learning process by providing instruction sessions, workshops, online guides and tutorials, and individual research assistance. They will serve as liaison to campus groups and academic disciplines, including psychology.

A critical aspect of this position requires the librarian to be a strong presence in the campus community, actively seeking outreach and engagement opportunities related to the library’s strategic plan, especially efforts to advance scholarly communication.
W&M Libraries is a learning organization; we seek people with an interest in continual learning and development through work related experiences, training, and professional development.  The responsibilities will evolve as the library environment changes.  Librarians participate in campus and library committees and in professional activities outside of W&M as well, with a focus on trends and developments in librarianship.

The librarian will be joining a team of experienced librarians who value collaboration and will help mentor their newest colleague.  This is a permanent 12-month, non-tenure track professional position. Required Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science (MLS) or library and information science (MLIS), conferred prior to appointment
  • Demonstrated interest in information literacy theory and practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion
