Kennedy. Senator Kennedy was a strong proponent of libraries and worked tirelessly with our nation’s librarians to make sure everyone in this country could get access to quality library services, no matter what type of library or where they were located.

His death is a great loss for this country. His passion for public service and the loss of his legislative skills will be felt on Capitol Hill for years to come. He was a great champion for so many people, there is no one on the legislative scene to compare with him or his accomplishments.

Over his 47 years in the Senate, library supporters could always count on his backing and counsel in their work to make library services available to all.

Our sympathies go out to his family, the residents of Massachusetts and the people of the United States who will miss him terribly.
