Organizational Membership for Academic Libraries

Membership Form

Your library’s membership supports the association’s work to further the mission of all libraries in the Commonwealth with advocacy, continuing education and networking opportunities, and scholarships for those entering the profession. Your institution will also receive a subscription to Virginia Libraries, VLA’s quarterly journal, which has published professional articles on libraries and library professionals in the Commonwealth since 1954.

For those working in academic libraries, VLA sponsors an active state chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries, with membership available to all VLA members and ACRL members residing in Virginia. In recent years, VLA-CRL has presented continuing education programs on such hot topics as e-books and patron-driven collection development, instruction assessment, leadership changes, and copyright. The annual conference-within-a-conference is an academic track in which peer-reviewed presentations and posters focus on issues of interest to academic librarians. VLA-CRL events provide opportunities for professional participation, continuing education and networking, without the high cost of interstate travel.

The Virginia Library Association has worked since 1905 to develop, educate, and advocate on behalf of all libraries, librarians and information professionals in the commonwealth. Join today to support our efforts – we thank you!
