What is your VLA position?
Treasurer

What do you hope to accomplish in your time as an elected member of the VLA Executive Committee?
I hope to contribute to the Association's financial security.

Bortz Library, Hampden-Sydney College

What is your current position?
Interim Director of the Library

When did you first know that you wanted to be a librarian?
As an undergraduate, when I started thinking about what I'd like to do for a living, but actually enjoy and find fulfilling.

What was your first library job?
I was a graduate assistant in two different departments at Thomas Cooper Library at the U. of S. Carolina while in library school, and then worked for a year as a reference librarian at the Parham Campus of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.

What is your favorite part of librarianship?
The individual interactions that prove all of the behind the scenes effort we put into selecting, purchasing, cataloging, and making
items discoverable works!

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you on the job?
Other than tripping over my own feet more often than I'd like to admit, I've got nothin'!

If you could have anything in the universe installed in your office for your personal use, what would it be?
A replicator like the one on Star Trek the Next Generation, so I could have Tea, Earl Grey. Hot. Any time, on demand.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to know about you?
I'm on a quest to visit all 50 states, and at last count I think I've been to 41 or 42 states.
