Jennifer Resor-Whicker

What is your current position? Head of Research Services

Where do you work? McConnell Library, Radford University

When did you first know that you wanted to work in the library field? While my husband was in library school I remember thinking that it sounded like something I would enjoy.

What is your favorite part of librarianship? Working with the students is my favorite part of librarianship. I love to see them succeed and understand the research process.

What was your first library or library-related job? Reference Intern at UNCG's Jackson Library

What projects or programs are you currently working on at your library? I'm in charge of Research Services which means I manage the library's Research Help Desk and Instruction Program. Our main goal is to help the students to be successful in their research assignments

What issue or topic in librarianship are you most interested in? I'm very interested in library leadership and management, along with information literacy instruction.

Why are you a member of VLA and what is the most important reason to you for being a member of VLA? I believe it is important to be a member of VLA because it provides a wonderful community that helps you learn and grow in your career. The networking opportunities I have had because of my VLA membership have set me up to succeed in my career. I wouldn't be where I am today without VLA
