Rappahannock Community College (RCC) invites applications for the part time position of Cataloger #H0008 on the Glenns campus. Reporting to the Library Coordinator, the cataloger will manage the technical services functions of the library to include catalog and process of all library collection materials and provide customer service to students, faculty, staff and all members of the college community. The successful candidate must be able to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends. Duties include but are not limited to: manage the centralized catalog of all materials for the academic and public libraries on both campuses; prepare and process books; provide circulation and reference assistance; sort and package books and other library materials and maintain accuracy of library holdings. This position is scheduled up to 29 hours per week and does not include benefits.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated knowledge of library circulation and reference services, library acquisition process and inventory control. Knowledge of advance cataloging (AACR2 and RDA), MARC records and Library of Congress classification system and OCLC. Strong customer service skills and able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of students, parents, faculty, and administrators. Demonstrated ability to successfully function in a team environment or work independently. Computer competency with MS Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications    
Associate’s degree. Prior library work experience; familiarity with the Integrated Library System-ALEPH/ALMA.

This is a part-time 29 hour per week position with no benefits. Satisfactory reference and criminal background checks are a condition of employment.
