The Transformative Power of Community Engagement explores powerful and proven strategies and tactics that can be applied immediately to positively impact your community regardless of your library’s size or budget. Join us for the day to learn what high-impact libraries know and do.

Why attend?

To Discover

Join industry leaders, Library Journal Movers & Shakers, and talented colleagues from around your state to discover why, how, and, specifically, what leaders from high-impact libraries are doing to transform their libraries and build better communities.

To Learn

Receive materials prior to the workshop to gather your thoughts at your own pace so, at the session, you can spend more time applying key concepts, checking your understanding, and extending your learning through interaction, collaboration and workshop activities.

To Engage

Have kitchen table conversations to exchange ideas, gain insights, and get answers to your questions. You will receive practical advice, feasible solutions, and field tested tools to help you identify, understand, and engage your community.

PLUS: Each attendee will walk away with a Personal Action Planner for success, and also gain access to The Commons, our online alumni community where librarians share resources, make connections, and crowdsource solutions to their challenges.

What you will learn

  • Why and how high-impact libraries are interpreting data and situations from many angles to identify, understand, and better serve their communities.
  • Why and how high-impact libraries are engaging, energizing, and mobilizing multiple sectors of their communities – including education, healthcare, non-profits, government, the public, and staff!
  • Powerful and proven community engagement strategies and tactics that can be applied immediately to produce results.

Based on four years of field research

Over the past four years, we have traveled to 67 communities, worked with 130 top library leaders, and facilitated conversations with more than 7,800 staff from thousands of libraries.
