VLA GNDA Winners Pay it Forward

Earlier this year, the VLA Diversity & Inclusion Forum started its first Graphic Novel Diversity Award, spearheaded by Kevin Clement of the Chesapeake Public Library. The winner for the Adult category has shared this message with us about how they spent the $500 prize they received (courtesy of a sponsorship by the Virginia Commonwealth University Library). Please click the link below to see the photos:

“On behalf of the team that produces BITCH PLANET, I wanted to reach out and thank you for the award.  We discussed it as a team and decided to pay it forward by using the money to provide books for a classroom. We chose to fund the "Sheroes and Heroes: Using Comics to Hook Non-Readers" project.…and thought you might enjoy seeing the photos of the results. Libraries are our heroes’ HQ. Thank you for all you do.

Best,

Kelly Sue
