Youth Services Forum

Welcome to the VLA Youth Service's Forum! Formerly known as CYART, this forum of the Virginia Library Association exists to promote quality library services and programs for all children and young adults throughout the Commonwealth.

We offer continuing education programs, share ideas, and support youth services providers in the six VLA regions. The Youth Services Forum awards the Jefferson Cup annually to an author of an outstanding book in the fields of American history, biography, or historical fiction.

VLA Jefferson Cup

The Youth Services Forum sponsors one division-wide award, the Jefferson Cup Award. Instituted in 1983, the Jefferson Cup Award is presented annually to the most distinguished book published for young people in the fields of American history, biography, or American historical fiction. The purpose of the award is to encourage the writing of quality books for young people; to give recognition to authors who write in these disciplines; and to promote the reading of books that illustrate America’s past.
