CYART Chair, Linda Gosnell, called the meeting to order. She announced that the 1997 CYART Budget was still being drafted. Possible additions to the budget include funds to cover expenses for the Jefferson Cup Award and a $250 donation to the Virginia Young ReaderÕs Committee to defray costs for promotion and postage. Another consideration is a budget line to cover printing costs.

A project which could possibly be covered under the proposed printing budget is the performerÕs list compiled by CYART members. Another option would be to post the list electronically. Sharon Hanlon distributed a draft of the form for submitting a performer to CYARTÕs list (form is attached). Each CYART Committee member is encouraged to submit 5 names to be added to the list .

Members were encouraged to attend other VLA Conference programs related to youth services. The Virginia Young Readers program scheduled for Saturday morning was highlighted.

CYART surveys were distributed. Members are encouraged to fill them out and return them to the Executive Committee. CYART is looking for people interested in serving on committees and ideas for future programs.

Upcoming opportunities for continuing education were announced:
