CYART EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA
OCTOBER 15, 1998
Attending: Ginger Armstrong, Diantha McCauley, Linda Gosnell Phillips, Scott Phillips, Rebecca Purdy, Lorry Risinger, Josie Schaffer
The September minutes were approved without addition or correction.
Scott Phillips distributed and discussed CYART's annual report. It was noted that Rebecca Purdy completed a successful storytelling workshop in September.
Scott then turned over the meeting to the new chair, Diantha McCauley. Ginger Armstrong will serve as secretary once again this year. Currently CYART is looking for a chair-elect.
The new meeting dates were listed as February 12, April 9, June 11, and September 10. The committee discussed holding meetings at each of the representative's libraries instead of meeting in Charlottesville each time. If the above meeting dates change, everyone will receive an e-mail.
Diantha discussed her goals for CYART (now the Youth Services Forum) for the year. She would like for the committee to work on increasing membership and participation in the Youth Services Forum. Also if members know of others in the field doing great programs, providing excellent service etc., please report them to Diantha. VLA Council is very interested in awarding those who are providing excellent service, etc. For example, the Volunteer Management Round Table is sponsoring a Youth Volunteer Award. A list of who is responsible for children's services in all of the regions statewide needs to be compiled. Regional representatives will send Ginger a list of those people in their regions who are in charge of children's services. Another goal is to refine the idea of and/or develop a basic program that can be taken on the road. This program will then serve as a regional program. Diantha will talk to VLA regional representatives to see if they would help with this type of program.
The Program Planner's workshop will be held on October 29th at the Library of Virginia.
Information regarding the next Youth Services Forum meeting will be forthcoming.
The meeting adjourned.
