Ticketed Events

While many events come with your 2014 Conference registration, some events are ticketed.  The following events require tickets:

  • Wednesday, October 22: Preconference with John Chrastka and Patrick Sweeney ($25 for members, $30 for non-members). At this session Chrastka and Sweeney want to share what they learned while working on the battleground of library ballot campaigns. They want to encourage a public dialog between librarians about the importance of politics in our daily routine and to encourage each other to get involved in the fight for library funding at the ballot box.  They will also be sharing many of the tips and tricks that national SuperPACs use to build advocacy and coalitions and communities of supporters.
  • Thursday, October 23: Turkey Boxed Lunch ($7); served in the rear of the Exhibit Hall at 11:45pm. Lunches must be ordered in advance; tickets will not be sold on site. Lunch includes sandwich, fruit, chips and snack. A selection of soft drinks and water will be provided.
  • Thursday, October 23: Jefferson Cup Author Event with A.B. Westrick, $15. Each attendee will be entered into a raffle to win a free autographed copy of Brotherhood, Ms. Westrick's debut novel. It has also won the National Council for the Social Studies 2014 Notable Trade Book Award, was an American Library Association 2014 Best Book for Young Adults, a Jane Addams Children's Books Award, and a Junior Library Guild Selection.
  • Friday, October 24: Jefferson Cup Author Event with Matt Phelan, $15. Each attendee will be entered into a raffle to win a free autographed copy of Bluffton:  My Summer With Buster Keaton. Matt Phelan is an award winning author and illustrator of many books for young readers, including The Higher Power of Lucky by Susan Patron.  He lives in Ardmore, Pennsylvania with his family.  Bluffton is his third graphic novel.  Phelan won the 2010 Scott O’Dell Award for Historical Fiction for his first graphic novel, The Storm in the Barn.  Xander’s Panda Party by Linda Sue Park is his latest picture book.  With a goal of one day writing and directing movies he studied film and theater in college.  However, Matt’s first love has always been drawing.  In many ways being an illustrator is fulfilling that goal.  He is the actor, director, cinematographer and more when he creates a children’s book.
