The Prince William Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Dr. Connie Gilman has been appointed as Director of the Prince William Public Library System, effective July 1, 2013.
Dr. Gilman brings to this position a long history of library experience and service to the community.
- Currently branch administrator of the Chinn Park Library
- She has worked in the Prince William Library System for 23 years
- Has worked at the University of Virginia, taught courses at Washington University in St. Louis, and worked as a school librarian
- Past President of the Virginia Library Association
- Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Northern Virginia Community College, serving on that Board for 8 years
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky and a PHD in Higher Education from the University of Virginia
- Serves on the committee working with the architect on the design of the two new libraries
Dr. Gilman was unanimously selected by the Library Board from among 39 applicants for the position.
