The promotional materials and worksheets have been updated. You’ll find them all, plus step by step instructions, at http://snapshotvirginia.org/ under “Participate”.
So, how to get started?
First, pick your Snapshot Day. This year we’ve opened it up to the entire month of April. Pick the day that works best for you–will key staff be present? What fabulous programs will be ongoing? On which days can you get a photographer? If you have multiple locations, there’s no need to hold all your Snapshots on a single day.
Once you know when you will be participating, it’s time to advertise. Patrons can get excited about the chance to make their voices heard. On the site you’ll find flyers, posters, and bookmarks that can be easily customized with the date of your Snapshot. Print these out to display around your branches and to hand out at checkout.
Getting the press involved can be one of the most powerful methods for advertising your Snapshot Day. Also on the “Participate” page of the website, you will find a press release template. Simply add your library information and Snapshot date and send it out to your local newspaper and media outlets.
In the next email I’ll talk about the nuts and bolts of making your Snapshot Day run smoothly.
Thank you for participating!
