Librarians and staff from all over Virginia worked hard to collect statistics, photographs, and patron comments for SnapshotVA 2011. Based on the population served, 46% of the state participated! And now it’s time to turn this program in advocacy for Virginia libraries.
Libraries are ESSENTIAL. Our patrons come to us for education, information, and assistance. Libraries are at the heart of their communities and the content collected during SnapshotVA 2011 underscores this idea very strongly.
The SnapshotVA website has been updated with a kick-off campaign that libraries can use right away and throughout the budget cycle to connect with their patrons, communities, and budgetary decision makers. Posters and bookmarks are available for you to use to appeal with impressive facts, moving quotes, and some amazing photographs. It’s all ready for download at: http://snapshotvirginia.org/
Check out the statistics, patron comments, and photos for your library’s use. There’s some really great content there for illustrating just about any advocacy message you might need to produce for your library. Check it out on the Results and Community tabs at: http://snapshotvirginia.org/
In a couple of weeks you’ll be hearing about other campaigns planned for the coming year to focus on the specific areas in which libraries are essential.
